January 31st, 2008
I would have to say that January 31st, 2008, will always be remembered as one of the scariest days I have experienced thus far as a Mommy. Kayla in the past has had several-21 to be exact ear infections , 2 sets of ear tubes and 5 febiral seizures, until now. On the Janauary 31st it is a normal day. I went to work that day, came home loved on Kayla, cooked dinner and cleaned up the kitchen all with the help of my big girl. That night I gave her a bath and let her play in the "bubbles" from wash her and her long blonde hair. She went to bed earlier that normal that day, but I thought maybe it was because she had a long day at school and didn't get enough sleep. She also had been on antibotics for another ear infection, so that seems to be an issue when she doesn't feel well. About 9 o'clock that evening she woke up screaming for Mommy and I went to check on her of course, she put her head down on my shoulder and started puking her guts out, so I ran her to the bath room and but her in the bath tub so that if she continued to get sick it would be easier to clean up and the mess. Which was the case, she emptied everything she had in stomach that evening. I ended stripping her down and giving her a shower, which she just stood under and acted sleepy, which is a little weird because she wants to play in the water. I got her out of the shower, she said she needed to pee pee, got her some juice, took her temperature which was 103.6 and gave her some Mortin. She didn't feel well so I put her bed beside me and called my sister in law really quickly. She was sound asleep right beside, well I thought she was going to start getting sick again or chocking so I got off the phone to help her. None the less I was wrong she was having her 6th seizure, the worst one so far. She turned completely blue, she as laying on her side, so I tried to roll her over to do CPR, which she didn't respond to, she was blue all over, her eyes where rolled back ,and at that point unresponsive completely, which I started to really freak out and panic, so I tooker her next door to my neighbors house, Kim and Scott. Our little girls play together almost every day. I banged down their door and they took over, at that point I was hestarical and couldn't seem to rationalize anything. I really thought that she was going to die, because she had stopped breathing for over a minute at that point. I was crying uncontrollably, thankfully they called 911 for me, they called Paul at work to let him know. He managed to beat the ambulance to our house, he of course got clocked at 118 miles an hour too, thankfully no ticket or loss of driving privledges either. The ambulance got here and her oxygen level was 70 % which is not good of course and her heart rate was 142 per mintue. Thankfully she started breathing before the ambulance got here and her oxygen level was 100% by the time we got the the emergency room. She was just really upset and disoriented. We got to the emergency room and they of course took her straight back. We where there for 4 almost 5 hours making sure that she was okay. They changed her antibotics, since she was on her last day of antibotics when this started. Gave her a shot, and she slept most of the remainder of the evning. I stayed home from work for the next week with her, with no pay, which sucks but oh well, you do what you have to do. She went to see her her ENT physician, after I called them crying and begging for them to see her, and they are going to place her 3 set of ear tubes in 18 months, remove her adenoids, and possibly her tonsils, to see that will releave some of the issues that cause her to continuly have ear infections. We are also going to try to get her allergy tested, which they don't usually do that until they are 3 or 4 years old. So her surgery is scheduled for Feb 25th. So hopefully we won't have any more issues between now and then. She is starting to get back to her normal self. Thankfully. I will keep everyone posted on how things go down between now and then.
